Book of the week
This week book of the week goes to a book that I have recently read. Its called House of Secrets. I would recommend this book to 9 years and older. This book is really descriptive and hooks you in to read more. I would give this book a 4 stars and a 8/10. Here is a little blurb about the book.
Cordelia, Brendan, and Eleanor Walker are not very happy when their parents purchase the creepy Kristoff House, especially after a mysterious woman appears and demolishes it. She claims to be the "Wind Witch" and the daughter of the original owner of the house, Denver Kristoff. The three Walker children are horrified when they find that their parents are dead and that they're characters in a novel written by Kristoff himself. Having read the book previously, Cordelia knew that they would soon meet a new person, Will, a member of the National Flying Corp from World war one. They soon find strange things and learn that they are not just captured in a single book, but inside three of them. The Wind Witch suddenly appears before them, saying that their mission is to find a secret book that she can't touch. She also promises to release their captured parents if they do so. They go on an adventurous trip to find the book, escape from the hurdles and save their parents.
You should read this book I think you would like it if you are into adventure books.

Book of the week.
For each week I will be doing a book of the week. This week it goes to a Jacqueline Wilson book. This book is for people 9-12 years. Its called Best Friends and here is a summary about it.
There are two girls called Gemma and Alice and they have known each other for all off their lives.
One day Gemma was getting suspicious with Alice. Gemma knew that Alice was hiding some big secret. Gemma was wondering why Alice wouldn't tell her if they had been friends all of their lives.
Then Gemma makes a mistake and reads Alice's diary without asking...
Read the story yourself to find out the ending.

An addictive treat.
Opening the lid of M&M's Many colours blinded me. A wet substance dribbled down my chin. Glancing at the desirable treat I just had to take one...
Slipping a single M&M into my mouth. I could soon taste the flavour of smooth, desirable and sweet chocolate. Then I took another one.
Popping the M&M into my mouth. The flavour of sugar and cocoa once again visited me. Once I had my fifth M&M I couldn't stop.
Grabbing a handful of mouth-watering minuscule objects. I chucked them into my mouth with one gulp. I looked in the container and there was only one left.
A blue M&M sat lonely. I popped it into my mouth. Smooth chocolate covered my teeth. I swallowed. All that was left was a mouthful of saliva.
My Bubblegum Speech
Bubblegum
Is bubblegum good or bad?
You decide and I will help you.
When I say bubblegum you would
think oh yum, delicious. That chewy
sticky goodness with desirable flavours.
When bubblegum was first released in 1928
everyone thought it was the evolution to lollies.
It's not. Bubblegum is a waste of money.
If your parents tell you not to eat bubblegum.
Don't! and you will soon understand why...
Do you know what makes bubblegum so chewy?
Plastic and rubber. I know disgusting right.
They just add colour and flavour to so you can't tell.
Brands say that bubblegum cleans your teeth.
It doesn't. Their just lying to make more money.
Thats your money that you could save up for other things.
Bubblegum also contains a lot of sugar and is
seriously fattening too. So don't eat bubblegum.
Bubblegum is not healthy they are all lies.
When you have bubblegum all
you are doing is producing saliva
that isn't needed.
Please don't eat bubblegum. Trust me you
will have a better life and less dental visits.
Beautiful Colours
Beautiful Colours
Elegant colours emerged from the sky then brief flashes of orange and red disappeared as the sun came up to greet us.
Soon clouds were hovering above me. Puffy and huge. A sudden burst of sunshine struck. The day had arrived...
The wind howled and blew. A chilly breeze stung my eyes while freezing my ears. I was as cold as ice.
Suddenly the wind got warmer and the sun grew bigger. A pale blue colour lit up the beautiful sky above...
The sun begun to set as lovely colours of pink and blue awakened.
No clouds were to be seen.
Stars started to appear. Then I was left with a sky of midnight blue.

2 weeks that were 2 seconds
If you had a 2 week holiday you would think it would be everlasting but trust me it isn't.
Two weeks earlier...
As the bell rang smiles spread across 190 faces. Hopping off the bus waiting for the holidays to begin.
Freedom is unlocked and it now controls me. Getting captured up in a mind puzzling game and then realised it was the 7th of July!
Going to the movies for a 1 and a half hour film seemed like a split second. Getting home and looking at the calender. My eyes almost jumped out of their sockets. 18th of July! Hasn't time gone fast?

Around the north island
Slouching in the car for a further 4 and a half hour notice. Finally we arrived at our destination... Napier
As we saw the piranhas show their jagged teeth, the penguins tease us in front of their feast and the sharks glance at us as if we were the most delicious they had ever seen.
Steam flew up into the air. The warmth landing on my soft skin. Taking a look at the burning pools I went straight to the hottest that I thought was the most desirable. My body glowed red within seconds.
Clutching onto my stomach as we turned round twisted bends. We then got to Gisborne where we saw where Captain Cook had finally found New Zealand. Heading towards Rotorua where we were ready to get introduced to the unpleasant smell.
Sulfa now controlled me. Standing in the pouring rain as we admired our endangered kiwis. Staring in disbelief at the massive trout. Saturated in water as the log ride took me to surprise.
Going to the Lake Taupo to get my deserved sleep and then I'm in the car for a further four hour notice.

A series of colours confused me...
Tick, tick, tick watching the clock spiralling around. Slouching on the couch then suddenly someone disrupted my silence.
"What can we do now?" Georgina gasped. Her lips acted as if they were falling off a skyscraper. Suddenly a lightbulb visited my head...
Vanishing into my bedroom returning with a handful of rubber bands. A series of colours confused me wondering what one to begin with. "What a perfect idea" she said turning her crumpled face into a cheerful smile.
Lets get to work I thought. Twisting around I glanced at my alps of pendant creations. Vaulting up billions of miniscule objects soar into hiding positions gathering dust.

Staring up at the blank ceiling. Rubber bands trying to be sociable with me. A crumpled frown evolved over century's.
" What can we do now " we both said. " I don't know " I sobbed miserably.

On top of the world.
Higher and higher every step we took. Rails lifting us up to the top of the world. Peering out over the land. A picture is worth a thousand words but this one was a million.
" Are we there yet?" "Are we there yet?" Georgina moaned. Her eyes almost jumped out. Clear windows locking us in.
Billions of roofs were dots disappearing from the world.
Ears popping, cables jumping, echos copying. A sea of clouds lifting us to the top.
Ha, ha, ha a horrible cackle rang out from Georgina's mouth. Kelly was bright red with anger. Steam blowing out of her ears. "Stop that horrid cackle" she roared tremendously. "It's a habbit she'll never be able to stop" said Dad disappointedly.
A billion meters in the sky. Did I say this was a million words. I meant ten million.

A holiday in the holidays.
On Friday it was an endless trip to the outskirts of Auckland. We were going to see my cousins as we Hadn't seen them in a long time. After a million years we got there... Doing our hellos then it was time to chill out.
The next day I believed that we were staying longer. Until our stuff got thrown into the car. " Where are we going now " I said confused. " To Rotorua " Kelly replied. Century's went by...
Getting to the motel a wiff of sulfer flew past my nose. Sulfer is a mineral in the boiling mud that you find all over Rotorua. We had a swim in the pool. Splash, splash, splash... Soon we were walking along the stoney sand...
Up, up, up. We had an amazing view from high up. First the gondola and now the luge. Looks like we are going to have a fun filled day I thought. It was time to go back to Taranaki. On our way we stopped at Pamela's castle in Tirau.
The castle was filled with old toys and limited time only characters. The toys were years from 1810 to 2014 to see the differents that have happened between those years.

Amazin raisins into chocolate buns.
For those that guessed it (not many) the amazin raisins was in fact a culture of wild yeast that we grew. All of the groups managed to unscramble the mixed up bread recipe and make some chocolate buns. Those that worked out the correct amounts, baked great looking and delicious buns and those that got some measurements wrong ended up with not so great buns! It was an awesome end to an amazin mystery in Room 3. Here are some pictures.
Post of the week.
Here is a great descriptive piece by Madaline, that concentrates of character creation. Her aim was to create believable characters through description, dialogue and her reaction to them. I think she did a superb job.
Blog spotlight.
Here is an article by Natalie on the Asian paper wasp. She found a nest and did some research, then posted it on her blog well done Natalie!
